Landowners increasingly want to protect visual landscape values in open space covenants. These QEII guidelines assist in assessing and managing these values.
The New Zealand Biodiversity Strategy has brought particular focus for the need to protect a wide range of threatened indigenous habitat on private land. A Statement of National Priorities was developed (by DOC and MfE) in 2007 to guide decision-making around biodiversity protection on private land. Four national priorities in the statement identify the types of ecosystems and habitats most in need of protection. Download a copy of Protecting our Places brochure.
