Local government
Work closely with landowners to promote the preservation of native vegetation as part of their soil and water conservation work.
Regional councils can also advise on pest control and assist with funding for fences etc. Contact your local regional council for assistance or advice.
Can initiate, or assist with, the protection of conservation values on private land. This can be achieved by lease, purchase or negotiating voluntary agreements with the landowner.
District councils also advise on looking after areas of conservation value. They strongly support voluntary protection measures, such as QEII covenants, and may offer some form of financial incentive for protection. Contact your district council for assistance or advice.
