The Board has the executive control and management of the affairs of the Trust and is responsible for its administration.

The Board comprises six directors. The Minister of Conservation appoints four of them after nominations have been called from the public, having due regard to environmental and conservation values, the interests of rural landowners and the interests of the Maori community. QEII National Trust members elect the other two directors. The current Board comprises:
